For the love of handmades, colour and design

Sewing has always been a part of my life thanks to my mum who patiently taught me on her Singer treadle machine and later on an electric Pinnock machine.

Whilst I was an active sewer when my boys were small I have only recently rekindled my interest whilst recovering from brain surgery for an anuerysm. My first goal during recovery was to conquer an overlocker that I had never found time to learn during my busy worklife in the Corporate world. After many broken needles and more than a few choice words I eventually managed to thread the overlocker and started working with batik fabrics and lots of colours to help with my concentration and take my mind off things.

To help with my recovery I completed a small online arts course to and found I really loved bright, strong colours - this led to me sewing heat packs, totes and all sorts of small projects.

At the time I was already running thefregiesack online store which focussed on reusable bags and eco friendly products. I have since expanded the range to cover other reusable and handmade items like the gorgeous fabrics - all traditionally hand dyed, the heat packs - handmade in the Yarra Valley with more projects on the horizon.
