The Fregie Sack Story
How did the name come about? well...
Fruit + Vegies = 'Fregie' (say is like this _ 'freji')
The FregieSack – a reusable bag which was created in 2006 out of a desire to get rid of those annoying small plastic bags used in supermarkets.
Initially the bags were made of tulle and came in lots of colours until in 2010 the brand was given a fresh new look and the logo that is shown here today was introduced. New fabric was sourced to make the reusable produce bags in colour range you see here today. Fabric choice will always evolve in response to supply chain and pricing.
Calico bags were introduced for nuts, legumes and bulk foods and some eco fabrics to store your greens. These updates to the range have proven to be winners for the environment but have been discontinued due to increased costs of organic cotton fabrics.
The Fregie Sack produce bags can be used over and over again and are easily washed with a warm water hand.
The see-through mesh allows shop assistants to know exactly what’s inside your produce bag at a glance and being so lightweight, our reusable produce bags barely register on the scales! With the FregieSack, you can simply shop and store.
What’s more traditional type single-use plastic bags can also cause fruit and vegetables to sweat making the life cycle of your fresh produce much shorter. With the Fregie Sack, the see-through mesh allows your fruit and vegetables to breathe which gives them a longer life, and ultimately saves you money, plus, you’ll always be able to easily identify what’s inside.
The Fregie Sack can be used for more than just fruit and veg in the supermarket – you can use them when travelling to keep things sorted in your suitcase, fill them with toys in the car for the kids or collect shells, leaves, feathers or rocks when foraging on a walk!
Their usage is limited only by your imagination.
Fregiesacks are proudly 'Australian made and owned' with no plans to move offshore. We are keen to keep the manufacture of Fregisacks right here in Melbourne to support the local economy.
